The term “waste” refers to any material that has been discarded or abandoned, according to legislation or as a result of an industrial, agricultural, public or domestic activity and it may be solid, liquid or semi-solid. 

All manufacturing activities involve the production of solid and liquid waste to be classified in order to establish the correct methods for its management and disposal.
