What does it mean for you to serve public health?
Phyllis Hu, Food Science Center Manager, Shanghai, China
“I worked in Food Science Center in China for 4 years. For me public health means food safety research. We evaluate pathogen risk by challenging food formulation, kill-step process and environmental monitoring, we do shelf-life study and identify spoilage microorganisms to support quality control, validate and check testing method for different food matrix. We treat every food sample as carefully as we can to produce reliable data to support food safety risk assessment and serve public health.”
Rachel Hiles, Laboratory Director, Omaha, United States
“Serving public health means being passionate, accountable and committed to quality. The decisions we make and the work we do everyday affect individuals, families and communities all over the world. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment knowing your importance in protecting these communities and future generations to come.“
